2018 Bay Area Battery Summit: Building Better Batteries
This series of conferences began with the 2015 Summit in which we addressed how policy and the ecosystem could drive rapid deployment of transformative technologies. Last year, the conference was focused on how entrepreneurs can drive innovation. This year, we are continuing to challenge the field by taking an in-depth look at lithium/cobalt technologies, their societal impact, and how new, emerging technologies could help to "build better batteries."
Organized by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) and CalCharge, this one-day summit will take a deep dive into solutions which might enable a cobalt-free future bringing together thought leaders to encourage in-depth conversations about the fundamental paradigm shifts in energy storage R&D, business and policy necessary to achieve this goal. Topics addressed in the agenda will include:
- Lessons learned from Silicon Valley in the move from ###
- Current status of low-cobalt and cobalt-free battery technology
- Recycling developments
- Policy developments to speed progress and technology adoption
- Marketplace challenges
Finalized agenda is forthcoming.
